Technology you are using in the classroom

Tell us about what technology you are using in the studio art classroom at AIO. I've been using Jing and finally figured out the Screencast website. Students do love it. I do wonder, though, if all of them view their critiques. I also miss the interactivity of students seeing each other's comments and being able to keep everything in the classroom - our biggest challenge when we add technology, to me, anyway.

How about you?

How are you classes going?

Tell us about your successes and challenges in the studio arts online classroom. What do you teach? How long? What media do your students use? What are your consistent rewards in the class? What do you find most challenging?

I teac the Painting class and have finally tweaked the course website (once Voni approves, that is) to clarify and focus the assignments. It's been a very demanding class as, sometimes, 2-3 paintings are due per week and it's too much for them to grasp or progress in such a short period.

Sharing your own artwork

What are you doing in the studio these days? I just finished a series in my conceptual costume series of Cinderella Fairytale Slippers for the Fuller Craft Museum in Brockton. I was invited to exhibit/sell a series in their museum store boutique as part of an exhibit entitled "Shoes: The Perfect Fit."

Right now, I'm also working on completing a 6' tall pine tree graphite drawing for submission to a few regional shows. Due mid-October. Wish me luck!

How about you?

Sharing ideas for Studio Art Resource Wiki

What resources would you like to share with the rest of the AIO Studio Art Faculty? Post some ideas for a Wiki (interactive website where we can all post links, images, video, etc.) and we'll create our own Wiki resource for students. Here - let's just discuss how we' like it to look.

Use of Blogs in Studio Art Online Classroom

Do you think having access to a blog would be an asset in your studio art classroom? Could students have another way to interact - feel more casual and less "formal" by coming to a blog, or would it be confusing for them to have another "place" to go other than the classroom environment?
